BRS relies on the know-how of Belgian non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for the selection and monitoring of microfinance and microinsurance projects. In this manner, BRS not only has access, indirectly, to people on-site who take responsibility for the daily monitoring of the projects; collaborating with NGOs also creates great financial leverage through the extra contributions made by the authorities on top of every euro BRS contributes.
